STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State junior defender Leanna Baldner has been named to the 2009 Southeastern Conference Soccer Community Service Team, the league announced Saturday.

Baldner, a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection, has actively served the community and Mississippi State during her three years with the Bulldog soccer team.

"Leanna is an outstanding representative for Mississippi State and a model student-athlete," Bulldog head coach Neil Macdonald said. "She does an excellent job leading our soccer program on and off the field, and she has a very bright future ahead of her."

The Meridian, Miss., native currently serves as vice president of the University's M-Club service organization. Baldner helped organize the SEC Together We "Can" Food Drive on campus as well as the Mississippi State Halloween Carnival, Bully's Book Blitz, campus trash pick-up and the annual Thanksgiving canned food drive.

A two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection, Baldner has also worked with Habitat for Humanity and volunteered with numerous Mississippi State soccer clinics.

In addition to all of her community service involvement, Baldner is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team and Campus Crusade for Christ.

One of State's team captains this past season, Baldner helped the Bulldogs to a 9-8-2 record, the program's first winning mark since 2003. The 18-match starter logged a team-high 1,694 minutes while helping State to a school-record eight-straight wins to open the year.
