The Lady Bulldogs, ranked 22nd in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, are off to a 4-0 start for the third consecutive season. State has defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff, East Tennessee State, Utah Valley and are coming off a 29-point victory over 20th-ranked Maryland last week. State currently leads the Southeastern Conference in scoring margin, defeating their first four opponents by 40.8 points on average. State leads the conference in scoring offense (87.8 ppg) and is second in scoring defense, allowing opponents 47 points a game.

Senior guard Alexis Rack is pacing the Lady Bulldogs, averaging 22.3 points a contest. Rack was named SEC Player of the Week last week in large part to her career record 43-point performance against the Terrapins.

Texas enters Thursday's game with a 2-1 record this season. UT is led in scoring by junior guard Kathleen Nash who is scoring 16 points a game.

Thursday's game with the Longhorns will be the second in the overall series between the two teams. In the only previous matchup, which came last season, Mississippi State downed Texas 71-63 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
