Showalter Returns To Managing At Baltimore

Showalter will be formally introduced as the new skipper of the Baltimore Orioles Monday and is expected to be in the dugout at Camden Yards Tuesday when Baltimore opens a home series against the Los Angeles Angels.
Showalter, a native of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., played one season at Mississippi State, earning All-SEC and All-America honors and setting the school record with an SEC-leading .459 batting average.
He was drafted in the fifth round by New York in 1977 and spent seven years playing in the Yankees’ organization. He later managed the New York Yankees (1992-95), the Arizona Diamondbacks (1998-2000) and the Texas Rangers (2003-06) and was twice voted the American League Manager of the Year (1994 and 2004).
Most recently he has served as an analyst for ESPN and as a senior adviser to the Cleveland Indians.
