STARKVILLE – Mississippi State football welcomed 10 incoming freshman to campus as the second summer session began on Monday. The 10 newcomers join 13 members of the 2009 signing class already enrolled in summer school, including seven of whom participated in spring practice.
“We’re excited to have these young guys on campus taking part in our summer program,” head coach Dan Mullen said. “I know (strength and conditioning) Coach (Matt) Balis will get them working hard so that we can hit the ground running when we begin camp in August.”
Joining the offseason program today are Johnthan Banks, Montrell Conner, Brandon Heavens, Gabriel Jackson, LaDarius Perkins, William Shumpert, Deontae Skinner, Chris Smith, Dennis Thames and Nickoe Whitley. The group joins freshmen Josh Boyd, Chad Bumphis, Fletcher Cox, Johnathan McKenzie and Tyler Russell, who were enrolled in the first summer term in June.
The full 2009 Bulldog squad will report to campus on August 2, with the team’s first practice on Monday, August 3.
