MSU Women's Tennis Completes Day Two Of Seminole Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Day two of this weekend's Seminole invitational drew to a close Saturday afternoon for Mississippi State's women's tennis team, with Sophomore Olesya Tsigvintseva picking up the Lady Bulldogs' only win of the day.

After a tough outing in Friday's opening round, Tsigvintseva got back into form Saturday and took a hard-fought triumph over Ashley Murdock of Memphis. Tsigvintseva fell behind early in the match, losing the first set 1-6. She rebounded though for a tight 1-6, 7-6, 6-0 victory.

The win by Tsigvintseva was the only highlight of the day; however, as each remaining Lady Bulldog fell in straight sets. Natalia Mayuk dropped a close 6-3, 7-6 (4) match to Rodriguez of Central Florida, while Valeriya Makarycheva lost 7-5, 6-1 to Furman's Betetti. Meanwhile, Danielle Terpko fell in a 6-4, 6-4 contest to Guevera of South Florida.

In doubles, MSU dropped both matches. The Lady Bulldog tandem of Tsigvintseva and Mayuk lost in an 8-4 affair against the Frisell and Yacaman pair from Central Florida. MSU's Makarycheva and Terpko fell to Memphis' Brown and Gray 8-4.

Mississippi State will be back in action tomorrow with one final round of singles.
