SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas - Following a heartbreaking loss to Richmond in the semifinals of the South Padre Island Invitational on Friday night, Mississippi State looks to rebound against Old Dominion in the consolation round at 4:30 p.m. today.
The game will be available via pay-per-view video on the internet only at Fox College Sports Broadband. Premium Live audio is also available through Maroon to the Max.
Today will mark the fourth meeting between the Bulldogs and the Monarchs, with the two splitting their four games. MSU won the last time out, 62-57 in Norfolk, Va., on Dec. 18, 1997. They've met twice in tournament play, with ODU staking an 82-78 win in the 1976 Old Dominion Classic and a 72-71 OT victory at the 1996 Puerto Rico Holiday Classic in San Juan.
The Bulldogs are also looking to snap a five-game losing regular-season tournament games. Last year, MSU participated in the Legends Classic in Newark, N.J., and lost to Washington State (63-52) and Texas Tech (77-73). Two years ago at the Anaheim Classic, the Bulldogs dropped a pair of games to Southern Illinois (63-49) and Miami [OH] (67-60).
Overall, Mississippi State is now 82-71 in tournament play, with 17 titles won.
After today, the Bulldogs return to action on Dec. 5 at home against St. Bonaventure.
