Senior Punter Blake McAdams Named To Ray Guy Watch List

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Senior punter Blake McAdams was one of 46 players named to the initial watch list for the Ray Guy Award, the Greater Atlanta Sports Council announced today.

McAdams, a Ripley, Tenn., native, has started each game during his four-year career for the Bulldogs, and his career numbers are approaching some of the all-time records set in the Southeastern Conference. McAdams set a new MSU school record for total punts with his 234 and is now only 43 shy of the SEC mark. His 9,246 total yards are a new school record and good for 12th in the history of the Southeastern Conference.

Last weekend against Auburn, McAdams punted 10 times for 381 yards against, pinning the Tigers inside the 20 three times. He also held Auburn return specialist Robert Dunn - who entered the game as the SEC's top punt returner - to just two returns for 22 yards.

The watch list will be narrowed to ten semi-finalists in early-November. The national voting body will then vote for the top three finalists, and ultimately the winner. The top three finalists will be announced in late–November, and the winner of the Ray Guy Award, which is affiliated with the National College Football Awards Association, will be presented live on ESPN during the ESPNU-Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 11, 2008.
